On our last trip to the farm to celebrate Grandma Susie's Birthday and Given's Birthday --- both in April --- we got to enjoy the finer points of Country Living.
We went to an auction in an Amish community...and saw horses walking on a treadmill to generate the ice cream maker. The fresh ice cream was spectacular. We saw lots of horses and chickens and cows. We even saw baby chickens at the store...for $1.29 each. I think that's a bit pricey, myself.
Given helped Grandma Susie on the farm. He picked up sticks so Mama could mow; he helped till the garden and plant seeds; he helped Uncle David in the workshop; and watched with awe as the neighbor delivered a truckload of rock in his monsterous dump truck!
Oh...yes....Grandma Susie and Given also baked cookies....but I think, by now, that goes without saying. What a precious weekend....we will always treasure.
